CAMBRIDGE, Mass.– Zoe Banks ’23 will rejoin the Harvard Water Polo program, returning as an assistant coach, Ted Minnis, The Friends of Harvard Water Polo Head Coach, announced today. A two-time captain throughout her playing career, Banks will serve as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s programs.
“I am super excited to announce Zoe Banks as my new assistant coach,” Minnis said on Thursday. “Bringing back an alum and someone who was a three-time All-American and two-time captain, someone that was a really big part of the things that we did while she was here with the women’s program, it’s a great opportunity. I’m excited to bring someone in who understands what our program is about, what our culture is about, and what Harvard is about.”
Helping backstop the Crimson to a 79-26 record in her four years in Cambridge, Banks was a three-time All-American after earning the nod in her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Making back-to-back trips to the CWPA Championship game in 2022 and 2023, Banks earned all-tournament honors in both of the Crimson playoff runs.
In her senior campaign, Banks overcame an injury to start the 2023 season, but rebounded to finish 150 saves, two assists, and nine steals – highlighted by a 19-save shutout against Santa Clara. The Crimson also defeated a pair of top-10 teams for the first time in program history with Banks as the starter.
The men’s season is set to begin on Sept. 7, with the Bruno Classic, while the women’s program will begin its 2025 campaign in late January.
